Wreaths Across America 2013
WHAT/WHO: Veterans, Family of Veterans, and the Community are invited to gather at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 6632 State RT 96A in Romulus N.Y. for the third annual “Wreath Across America” service.
Services will begin promptly at 12:00 p.m. regardless of weather. A “Roll Call” of veterans and dependents will be read by members of the Sampson Veterans Cemetery Advisory Team, and a “Holiday Wreath” will be placed at each gravesite by Boy Scout Troop # 81, under the direction of Scout Master Larry Daffler Waterloo N.Y. American Legion Post # 457, Phelps N.Y. will perform military honors with flag detail, rifle team & bugle. American Legion Post # 463, Ovid N.Y. led by Commander Fred
Percy (US Army) will provide gravesite guard details. Pastor Don Kennedy (US Army) of Lake Country Christian Church in Waterloo will officiate. Terry Scherer (US Navy) will provide traditional bagpipes. Immediately following this event there will be a dedication to N.Y. Senator Michael Nozzolio at the Memorial Trail / WW II Firehouse area at the cemetery.
To date, 168 veterans, and dependents have been interred at this cemetery, since its first burial Sept 26, 2011.
